The word Selah means, "to bring praise." The name was inspired by the culture in our studio, in which we strive to bring praise to God in all things we do. And more so, our inspiration came from our sweet neighbor, Selah, a woman who has lived a life of integrity and compassion. Raising a family in the city of Detroit through thick and thin, she has exalted what is good and true. She became known to us a few years back as a few of our friends were living next door to her. They would tell us about her coming into the house and sharing stories, and borrowing books over tea. Over time, her two sons, the twins, began playing basketball in the backyard of our friends’ home. The first time we met the twins, we were at a community gathering learning about the Father heart of God. The boys were a part of an urban internship that took place in Detroit that Fall.

Since that time the twins have grown close to our community, joining us in a community dinner weekly. As we have seen these two boys mature and become young men, their impact in our lives have also been substantial. And their mother has shown herself faithful to her family and remained strong despite the hardships that life has presented. About a year ago she was diagnosed with cancer, but she did not lose heart. She pressed on and continued fighting the good fight of faith. Since then, she and her family actually moved into a house next door to where we live now.

Today, Selah is still fighting her battle, and continues to be strong in the Lord. She has inspired us to fight the good fight of faith in our business and our lives. Her legacy continues to be a strong part of our inspiration.
