As you may know, I’ve been planning to host a leather workshop in Bay City for a few months now. On April 1st, I put my planning to the test and traveled to Harless + Hugh Flea.
When I got to Bay City I was surrounded by sweet little shops and the beautiful bay. Nestled on the corner of a block, lied Harless + Hugh Flea. It was my first time in Bay City and this had only been my second workshop. I spent hours going over all the materials I needed months before the workshop, but I still felt out of my element. A little nervous, I arrived in the store and was welcomed by two wonderful ladies, Debbie and Kimberly, who alleviated my anxiety and made me feel right at home. The shop was filled with homey decor and fresh succulents. I found my way to the back where there were two wood tables set up for the workshop. I carefully planned the process of how the workshop would go and set up all the materials.
The students started to arrive so I greeted them with a little background about Douglas & Co. Then we started the workshop. We cut, glued and applied hardware to the leather. Everyone left with their own triangle pouch and a little knowledge about leather.
I hope everyone that was at the workshop had as much fun as I did. I’m happy that we could bring our leather working knowledge out of Detroit and share it with Bay City. Thanks to Debbie and Kimberly at Harless + Hugh who hosted us. Thanks to James Holton for the photography.
